The system soon proved its worth when an unseasonable spring drought set in after installation. Comprising two interlinked 18-hole courses, as well as three additional practice holes, the scale of the Ballyliffin installation was staggering. In all, some 48,000 metres of pipe, 2,000 sprinklers across the greens, tees, approaches, fairways and walk-offs, 540 valves and 33 miles of control cable were used to create the comprehensive system.
Welshman and American visit Wales by Club Car Club Car, the world’s leading manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles, embarked on an interesting adventure this summer. In partnership with Visit Wales, Club Car provided a vehicle to a Welshman and an American who travelled through 15 villages in Wales. Kevin Hart, National Account Manager for Club Car, commented on the unique project “What a great idea! It’s original and really gets the message across to "visit Wales". It was certainly something different for Club Car to be involved in and with the Ryder Cup coming to Celtic Manor in 2010, and our heavy involvement in the event, it seemed a great project to support”.
