The EGCOA is pleased to welcome Burhill Golf and Leisure as a member. Privately owned by members of the Guinness family, Burhill Golf and Leisure Limited was founded in 1926 (then Burhill Estates Limited) to manage the estates of the then Lord Iveagh. The Company has diversified over the years and is now one of the UK’s largest golf course owners and operators.

More speakers announced for European Golf Business Conference 2009
More speakers are confirmed for the 4th European Golf Business Conference. Amongst them are US based golf architect Tom Doak, one of the hottest designers in the world today. He currently has 4 courses ranked among the top 100 in the world according to Golf Magazine's "Top 100 Courses in the World" list, including Pacific Dunes in Oregon, Ballyneal in Colorado, Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania and Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand.

Viborg Golfklub receives GEO Certified status
Denmark’s Viborg Golfklub has shown leadership in the sector by achieving GEO (Golf Environment Organisation) Certified status, golf’s most prestigious environmental award. With the Danish Golf Union (DGU), GEO and local government figures present at the award ceremony, Viborg’s new state-of-the-art maintenance facility hosted the team of staff and volunteers that worked to achieve the award, alongside a good turnout from the membership.

Rhys Norville wins Toro Student Greenkeeper of the Year Award
Rhys Norville, an assistant greenkeeper at Newport Golf Club in South Wales, has won the title of Toro Student Greenkeeper of the Year 2009. And with it, a dream trip of a lifetime to study turf management in America. Now in its 21st year, Rhys made this year’s competition even more exciting by becoming both its youngest ever winner as well as the first Welsh recipient of the title.
